Donald Gray II...

Name: Donald Gray II
School: Howard University
Major: International Business/Marketing
NASA Job: Contract Specialist/International Space Station Procurement

My name is Donald Gray II, a.k.a. DJ, or "The Donald". I'm a Junior International Business/Marketing major at Howard University in Washington, DC. I'm originally from Monroe, Michigan and I work for NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Yes, I do like to travel.

I guess it's my job to tell you a little about myself and my NASA experience. It's worth noting that I could be a senior now. I took a semester off of school to complete my first tour with NASA in the fall of 2004. During my first tour I did budgeting for the Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science (ARES) program. My mentor, Kate Suratt, was very helpful, and fun to be around. A great mentor can make all of the difference.

It was definitely worth taking a semester off. I gained some great work experience, and met some great people. The long break from the books did more to help than to harm. I finished my spring semester at Howard with a 4.0!

My second tour was with International Space Station (ISS) Procurement. The amount of responsibility that was given to me this tour certainly exceeded my expectations. I supported the $12.2 billion Boeing contract (looks nice on a resume). I was also impressed with the variety of the tasks assigned to me. I was able to do everything from buying a $50,000+ trailer for White Sands Test Facility, to negotiating a $2 million change on the Boeing contract that would provide an ammonia tank for the ISS.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about anything.
