Introduction
Since
March 1951, JSC has offered college students from all over the chance to get
involved with the space program. Through the co-operative education program,
the largest student education program at JSC, students (referred to as
co-ops) are given practical experience in applying the principles and
theories learned in the classroom. JSC also benefits from this program by
receiving a source of future employees for science, engineering and
administrative positions. Co-ops work at JSC on alternate semesters or
quarters (ranging from 10 to 20 weeks) as paid, full-time employees in
positions directly related to their field of study. Co-ops are selected
full-time students, both graduate and undergraduate, with a mean grade point
average range of 3.3-3.5, and also have at least 30 hours from an accredited
four-year educational institution.
